Job Description:

  • Full-time, exempt staff position; 
  • Provide high level skill and expertise in the provision of central computer systems and resources;
  • work independently with the highest level of server hardware, operating system and application software, and storage systems support;
  • work closely with campus departments and other CIS staff members to determine needs, analyze those needs, make systems recommendations, and provide design and development support for a wide range of central systems and services;
  • implement and maintain central computer systems hardware and software, including design, programming, security administration, testing, documentation and support;
  • supervise programming and technical staff;
  • manage support, systems configuration, applications analysis and programming, troubleshooting, and short and long range planning;
  • act as liaison between SPU and third party vendors;
  • other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience in core technologies);
  • three to five years of progressively responsible experience with server hardware, operating systems, storage resources, software applications, and systems support;
  • extensive experience with multiple operating system environments and administration;
  • extensive experience with computer networks, firewalls, system security, and network security;
  • extensive experience with server hardware, storage systems, and multi-vendor integration;
  • extensive experience with system management tools, directory services, data backup tools, identify management, performance monitoring, and system troubleshooting;
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • strong interpersonal and teamwork skills;
  • strong supervisory skills.

Preferred:

  • experience with relational database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, My SQL, or similar) and development tools;
  • experience with multiple software development tools and languages.
